My third-grade-best-friend’s mom had one of these. The back is so unique, clean, still looks great after all this time. I wonder what the chassis is like, and how hard it would be to swap in a modern drivetrain...

Update: there’s a few of these on CL, 95% are trashed, there’s a couple decent ones.

Hm, according to this, the D16A3 motor from the late 80s Integra is a bolt-in swap... so now to find a clean hatch and a running Integra donor :}

There’s one in my neighborhood that looks like it’s been parked under the same bush for years. I believe it’s an SI as well.

:( ancient economy cars are probably a bad place to look for a nice example. Then again, there’s the RCR Falcon project, so...

The suspension on these is kinda weird. The front is independent but with torsion bar springs instead of coils. The rear is a twist beam with coil springs. They still can handle pretty nicely but the fourth gen has double wishbones at both ends.

Also, the rear styling works even better in Accord Aerodeck form. It’s also got the wishbones.

It doesn’t look rusty at all but the paint has definitely gone from red to pink.

Yeah, I owned one for a bit. The suspension is odd, but it really maximizes the interior space.

It can get away with the twist beam because they’re so damned light. The car just follows the front tires no matter what. At least when limited to 80hp.

Always liked those. I even built a 1:18 model in 5th grade.

They are cool. The Aerodeck is my favorite though.
